Sil, that book looks interesting. I am currently waiting for Go Go Girls of the Apocalypse from Amazon at the moment (actual title, haha).

Sun, I just bought that Operation game this year. One of the cool things about having kids is that you get another chance to play all those games you wanted to play as a kid. We can't play it with Ooseung in the room though - she's generally the fearless one, but the buzzer scares her.

The Shock of Serendipity! I came here from just finishing a science fiction yarn by Damien Broderick, about impermanence and the unsettling quality thereof. You might like it.

A child who thinks is bound to be scared by the thought of growing up in a world where the harbingers of doom are constantly croaking "Fear the Future" on TV. The adrenal rush sells all sorts of media, not just video games. There will always be a new crisis, but the bedrock of feeling capable trumps propaganda in the long run. I'm living proof, lol!

such beautiful writing. this brought up so many ancient memories from childhood, from when me and my brother were growing up, waking up hours before school just so we could romp around the house.

when you're a kid, the concept of impermanence is hard to get through your head. then, when it finally does sink in, it's unsettling.

'like luke and yoda.' that is so true. carrying the people who once carried you, it's the ultimate show of impermanence, the ultimate switcheroo.

as tough as it can be, to grow older .. sun su's a super super smart kid who is ultra ultra sensitive to this world and he's got a magnificent family to grow older with! :)
