Me after jiu jitsu practice yesterday. Minus my usual energy drink. Blah.

Work.
Kids time.
Wife time.
Exercise.
Writing.
Drawing.
Jiu-jitsu.
Gaming.
Learning Corean.

That’s the list of things that I have to do or want to do these days.  But these days more than before, there just isn’t enough time for all of it.

Gaming has been taking up way too much time lately, but this fever too has finally passed.  It’s a compulsive addiction at times, but it does pass eventually.  I would never want to cut gaming completely out of my life.  Sometimes I just like being in a different world with a different disposition.

Learning Corean dropped off the list due to time and practicality.  But I had a rewarding experience with an old Corean couple in the hospital recently that has got me rethinking this.

Jiu-jitsu almost fell off the list this year, but after going back yesterday, it’s just too efficient as an exercise program to drop.  I keep thinking it takes up too much time but it takes a lot less time than I’d spend gaming.  The only downside is that I like staying home when the kids are home.  I may try bringing them with me sometime.  There’s a kids’ play area I’ve been eyeing.

Drawing and writing are locked together in a sinking embrace for me these days.  They’ve become my most involuntarily expendable item on this list.  Need to work on that.

Exercise is a necessity.  I go to the gym less but work out at home regularly now.

50% off Anklebiter and Rugrat Sale. I took two.

Spending time with the kids and wife is a given.  Sometimes I wonder if my wife wished she were with someone who liked to go out more or do crazy social things that I can’t even imagine.   What if she wonders about those “what-if’s.”

Work is taking up more time, more evenings and “mandatory volunteer shifts.”  Sigh.

The smart thing is always to combine the things you want to do.  Have the kids do what you do.  Review my jiu-jitsu videos while I’m working out.  Open an STD clinic in a Corean titty bar run by my wife with a daycare area and mixed martial arts ring.  Oh yeah, titty bar, I knew there was something missing from my list.

So far the biggest change I’ve made all year has been cutting down on junk food and pop.  I haven’t had a Pepsi or a Monster Assault in a month.  I’ve been drinking flavored water beverages instead.  That is a major accomplishment for me.  I did it to keep my weight in check and it’s been working well.

Can one good change lead to another?  I step tentatively, like the turtle in a minefield.

We're watching Amy's brothers recently captured turtle. This mofo is loud at night.
