Amy’s workplace signed up for a field day/fundraiser thing Saturday. I went for three reasons: 1) to … hmmm … oh, to show support for milady, 2) to watch the … someone, who was I supposed to – oh yeah, the kids, and 3) to keep an eye on Seymour, the male coworker who is seemingly always paired with her at work as well as this event.
[I'm going for 'muscle douche.']
I even tried on a tank top (above), so I could flex more than my jaw muscles at the potential male competition for my mate. But Amy saw it and said a flat, “No.” Male ego fail. Hence sad face, below.
I shouldn’t be concerned about this Seymour guy. Almost every time Amy talks about him, she starts with, “You know how I know Seymour’s gay….” Just kidding. That was uncalled for, toward the gay community. I still give him the Snub Eye though.
When we got there, I was a little surprised to see how big the event was. I expected an outdoor work party/picnic, but it was the famed Race for the Cure event. No wait, it was the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. No, no, actually it was The Relay for Life. There should be one big FUCK CANCER Race for all of these. Fits a lot easier on a T-shirt, and kids could be given special permission to use the F-word only when it pertains to cancer. Anyways, a lot of groups were there.
The race was actually a scavenger hunt from station to station. Amy did more running than she’s ever done. At one point she ran by us yelling, “I WILL KNOCK DOWN ANIMALS AND CHILDREN TO WIN !!!”
“What did umma say?” Sun Su asked afterwards.
“She said to, uh, look out for animals and children.”
Amy has a competitive side when it comes to silly contests.
The kids had some fun in the bounce tent and game booths plus they saw a very entertaining old deaf magician (the best kind!). It was a pretty hot day though. The kids were glad to go home. I was proud of my babe for participating (even though they didn’t win – the math part sunk them). And Amy became sore in places she didn’t know she had muscles.
Oh, and today I went to Corean church with the family and our cousins. Mostly because Sun Su didn’t want to sit in the kids’ class without one of us there. After watching a half hour of Veggie Tales, I now know why. It was Hell.
Anyways the story for today was about a woman who had a disease for twelve years, went to see a lot of doctors who took all of her money, and then finally touched Jesus’ clothes and became healed. I’m not kidding. I wouldn’t lie in a Corean church. Not unless someone asked me if I believe in God or something.
Could be worse, I guess. At least the story didn’t end with her going to one of these guys.
So in summary, Saturday I got a sun burn. Sunday, I got a soul burn. It’ll heal.
