We women only lead when it feels like no one is. If you're doing it right, she will never feel the need!

Janette, I suspect once Amy and I get to know each other's dance habits more, she will probably start leading again.

Jackie, thank you!

Chelseaorange, I would prefer wrestling/jiu-jitsu with Amy, but dancing is a good second place activity.

Bonnie, like Homer says, alcohol is the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems. Especially for shy folk.

ladybug, I would not dance with a guy either, although sometimes in grappling, you have your face in places you'd otherwise never want to be.

Amy, my wife and I need to start practicing again. We are already forgetting everything. We did get a cheat sheet from the teacher though and we'll probably take more classes from her in the future.

Jeanetta, you should do it. It's easy. The hard part is practicing once in a while so you don't forget it again. It is very love-affirming though.

Dongseng Key, I hope to put up videos some day, but not of me dancing, haha! I'm glad I can follow you on twitter now too.

Robstroy, that is a very cool analogy, man.

Mark b, my man, who else but you can be such a geeky trained killer, haha! Thanks for the thoughtful comments. As for the muscles used in dancing ... I think at higher levels, one might use their hips and obliques more, but those are the most important muscles in grappling anyhow. The basic classes we took weren't a serious workout but dancing for a half hour will still make you sweat. It did use more lower body and core muscles in general.

ladybug, someday maybe, haha.

The best part about these dance classes must be the +2 bonuses to Charisma and Agility. :-)

This has got to be one of your top 10 journal entries, and not just because of your shout out ;-) ... it's amazing that you could find such meaningful correlation between dancing and bjj.

I wonder though, do you find yourselves excercising muscle groups during danceing that you don't normally exercise?

I love to dance too, but love it doing freestyle. Following steps like what you compared to fighting, wrestling, Brazilian jujitsu makes it complicated because I never know any of that fighting rules, I am more into ball games.
