There’s something missing in my life these days, my first love. Simply put, I need to draw more. I don’t always have the luxury of finishing drawings anymore which had precluded me from starting drawings last year. So in an effort to bring this love back in my life and stretch my artistic hamstrings again, I’m going to add the occasional current sketch to this journal. No notifications, no expectations, no perfections, mistakes and all. Consider it subconscious workings or just filler between written entries, but I know I need this kind of personal satisfaction and I need to draw more.

Happy new year, Scott!
I’m right there with you on that one. An online friend of mine introduced this great community of artists to me recently. Sketchcrawl.com. Every 2 or 3 months, artists around the world get together to sketch their surroundings. The next one is on Saturday, April 11, 2009. Not sure if there is a group of sketchers in Michigan but you could always start your own and give a shout on the forum about it. I considered starting one in New Jersey but I’ll probably just join New York City’s group instead since I live pretty close to the city anyway.
Anyway, hope this helps. And hey, the tentamask lady looks like a good start.
Tricky pose, I’d say.
I’ve never read if you have something like TAN-TV, but a very good current drama is “Painter of the Wind”-a very fictionalized account of the lives of two famous late-18th century korean artists. The story is interesting, and the mechanics and the techniques they used to paint are fascinating, too. The same story has been made into a considerably more adult movie called “Meendo”
Hi Paula! Thanks for the website. I definitely need to draw more landscapes and backgrounds. As for the sketches, I don’t plan on inking them anytime soon. I’ll probably ink it when I’m drawing with the kids sometime and I don’t need to concentrate on the creative aspects.
Doug, I don’t have any Asian-specific channels on cable, but that does sound interesting. I’ve been trying to watch Damo with Ha Ji Won for years but haven’t finished it.
