Hi Ami, congrats on running a ten-minute mile (from your site). I started the drawing for the muscles/shadows. Abs can have such variability person-to-person, so I used a reference photo of a set I wanted “to keep.” I usually use some reference photos because I like the realism they provide (vs the generic comic book look), like looking at someone’s picture to draw a portrait. The pencilling was done in a night or two. Inking it took maybe 2 hours – I don’t really know, I lose track of time. Painting in the greys and the pants (with watered down India Ink) took like fifteen minutes since all the real work was done.

Paul this is a generic Sir Gen, a soldier/resident in Sir Jury’s army of genetically-chosen knights. I wanted to standardize a “look” for the nameless troops behind Sir Jury’s clan; right now being goggles, surgical mask, muscles, tattoo, and lots of sharp accessories.

Katie, you just like the colors because they remind you of Japan. My other sites were always red/white/black so I chose to stick with it. I like your new site too! A journal without pictures is like a garden without flowers. You gotta put some pictures up, please.
