It's probably my favorite book ever ever.

Yeah, I'm guessing you're not going to be beating Sun Su at any video game ever again. It's the curse of the previous generation, I guess. You still have push-ups and beard-growing up on him. I'd use those...while you can *dramatic organ music* *thunderclap*

Rick, I still haven't read Ender's Game yet. Thanks for reminding me to pick it up. I can't take it easy on Sun Su in Halo 3 deathmatch anymore. He knows the maps better than I do.

A child named Sun Su a master tactician of the mini game. That makes me happy.

Soo, good to see you! I was actually looking for my old Steve Jackson Car Wars books before I posted this entry (Auto-Duel was based on the paper-and-pencil Car Wars game). A favorite set-up in the paper RPG was to overload the front armor + battering ram + bumper-linked 2 rocket launchers and just ram someone. The rockets would fire on contact and the ram added damage too. Not too subtle though.

Aein, they are playing Mario Party 8. The get to shake the Wiimotes a lot in that one (although Sun Su usually wins the mini-games).

All you need to do is add a recoil-less rifle on the roof, a rear flamethrower, and some underbelly armor and you'll be ready for a career in Auto-Duel.

Pseudodigm, congratulations for you and Violaine. Very cool. But no pictures of the happy couple? http://violaine.livejournal.com/

Test Drive Unlimited is kind of MMO-lite, but in a good way. The more you drive around the island, the more missions you reveal, and driving 15 miles actually feels like a real 15 miles. You can customize your driver somewhat and there are lots of clothes shops to spend your rewards on. (You see your driver a lot in the cut-scenes which are all skippable.) As for the multiplayer, you occasionally drive by other players (easy to find too) and can challenge them there or in formal races (many of which are set up by players as well). There are over 90 cars and you have to buy more houses to store your cars (4-8 per house).

One of the other unique aspects of TDU is that some of the missions are NOT timed in any way. You can take all day delivering some exotic car, but you lose some reward for each ding or slip off the roads. The trick is who can drive slow when you're driving around a million dollar sports car? Classic man vs self conflict.

If you buy a car in each class (F through A, I think), you unlock the motorcycle shop and can ride one.

Actually, I might have to pick up Test Drive Unlimited; I didn't realize there was an MMO aspect to it.

Oh! I should have mentioned, I think you know my fiancee - she's violaine on Livejournal and used to run orangelipstick.com. She says "hi". :)
