“Hey what happened to your car?” Amy’s sister-in-law asked.
“Amy hit it,” I answered.
“Again?”
Later….
“Hey what happened to your car?” a cousin asked.
“Amy hit it.”
“Again?”
Later….
“Hey what happened to your car?” a jiu-jitsu friend asked.
“Amy hit it.”
“Again?”
“I don’t remember telling you about the first time.”
So yeah, this is the second time Amy banged up my automotive Corean pride, my Tiburon. Both times, she backed into it. I probably shouldn’t have parked so close to her Battlestar Commander but still. Twice? Should I check to see if my life insurance was recently increased?
The car actually looked worse than in the picture but I had already done some of my own repairs (i.e., jumped on the hood a couple of times - seriously) before taking a “before” picture.
The glares from the Neighborhood Watch (which is actually just one person) insinuate that I should get it fixed for the good of property value, but I don’t think I will.
1. A banged up Hyundai Tiburon is definitely less steal-able. (On the other hand, even racing games ignore the Tiburon.)
2. It’s like a scar and scars are physical remnants of life experience, personality, and/or clumsiness.
3. I’d rather save the money.
4. What’s the point? We all know Amy’s going to hit it again eventually.
I envy people who can fix cars, especially the bodywork people. Man, if I could do that, I’d weld a little turret on top and dual fake harpoon guns on the hood, ala Mad Max. Why doesn’t anyone do that? (Oh hai!) Why isn’t that a vehicle class - luxury, sedan, and post-apocalyptic roadwarrior. Oh, right, the whole apocalypse part.
Anyways, I like my little Corean Tiburon just the way it is. Just like my wife.
Although I am thinking about trading up for one of the new 2008 models. Nicer curves and headlights.
It may be time for a new car too. *rimshot*
(Just a joke, baby. Yep, definitely gotta check on my life insurance now.)
I’ve been dabbling in racing games ever since the Dreamcast console - Sega GT (DC), Tokyo Xtreme Racing (DC), Project Gotham (Xbox), Gran Turismo (Xbox), Most Wanted (Xbox), Pro Street (360), and now Test Drive Unlimited (360). If you love a particular car (or even a racing game), I would love to hear what you like about that particular car (or game) in the comments.
ADDENDUM: I forgot to add the only dysfunctional part of my Tiburon since the crash is that the alarm tends to go off when it gets really cold - which can be every night here in Michigan and every morning when I park it at work. Sometimes it’s gone off three times in a row - after that I just keep walking into the hospital. I need to get the alarm shut down.
